The Jai Journal

greatest week of my life, dating, and the 'Secret Project'

Hey, Jai here.

This is my journal where I brain dump interesting things i’ve learnt or done recently. You’re in the 0.1% of my audience that get to see this. Here’s the latest (< 7 minute read):

3 month update.

Oops dropped the ball on this bad boy, I haven’t hit publish on an email for 94 days.

I’ll start the very brief recap with a line I wrote in my journal dated July 21st.

“Holy fuckamoly. I don’t believe in such extremes but this may have been the best week of my life. A crazy lil idea I had to rent a village and invite 100 people to live together. And to think I'll be looking back on this in 5 years smiling at myself because of how small I was playing... if only I knew what was coming."

Camp Mondays exceeded my expectations. In true camp form, we had a heat wave and people sleeping on the floor of the seminar room. A lightening storm. One of my teenage idols Sam Kolder came to hang out. And a team of 20 people on the ground to make it possible.

I think we averaged 38 applications a day and had 4 new members join while we were there.

We made a video and posted it last week. Check it out

After Camp I was about to hit my 90 days in Shengen and had to dip, so I pulled up Airbnb to find the most epic mountain view I could, for me to go and finish my book.

Notable stats from my 2 weeks solo:
Number of dinners containing mince and potatoes: 80%
Litres of tea consumed: 13
Hours meditated: 11.6
Amount of book written: 90%
Novak Djokovic sightings: 0

One of my favourite lil adventures this year. I must have hit a few streams of consciousness because I made a video while I was there and it’s now the most-viewed video on my channel. Not bad after 3 years and 96 videos!

You can watch it here :)

I didn’t finish the book. It's close, but since I left Serbia I haven't found the right environment to write in again. Not willing to just brute force my way through it because it's more like art than work for me, and I know it'll show in the writing. Sorry to all the homies hangin' out for it!

After that I hit a hop, rock skip n jump over to Albania and Montenegro with a couple of my OG friends Tess & Liam.

We spent 2 months straight together back in 2023 travelling around europe and it’s a bit of a reunitement for us (is that even a word?)

Tess is an artist with a really cool brand Casa Lasola and Liam and I used to be biz partners at Nostalgia Studios (I left this year). I rly fuck with this video series he’s put out recently.

Turns out Liam and I are very good at getting food poisoning when we’re together and Albania was no exception. Didn’t see much of the landscape but once we recovered we had a fat time hanging, yapping, working and filming.

...

Phew, almost up to date!

Flew back to Aus and spent a month deep in family time. It’s not often all 6 of my sibling are in one place and i tend to lose track of time pretty quick.

I’ll leave you on a cliffhanger: We’re working on our largest, most expensive project yet… Calling it the Secret Project. It’s forced me to become a student again, learning something entirely new. What a beautiful thing that - learning new things.

There might be an easter egg in the latest Art of Mondays News Ep.4 but you didn't hear it from me.

Now let's get into the fun stuff 😈

Random things that have given me value lately.

1. Understanding my Human Design chart.

I use this app^

Human Design uses your birth date, time, and location to create an energetic map called a BodyGraph. This map shows your natural traits, how you make decisions, and how you interact with the world. It's the kind of thing you read and nod along with, like something has FINALLY found the words to describe you at your core.

Through it I learnt that my role is not to push & grind my way to get what I want. It’s to wait for invitations, then engage. I think it’s the reason social media has always resonated with me. I can create content like this journal entry from a place of lived experience, put it out in the world, and sometimes people resonate and respond. Each of those responses are invitations for me to engage, and I end up making far more progress (while feeling in flow) as a result.

I also learnt that i’m destined to cultivate community. It’s not a coincidence I was born into a big family, and run Art of Mondays, and like working with people and teams.

If you believe in HD, It’s like a deep trust. Surrendering, and knowing that it’s all going to work out. Even when it doesn’t work out, it’s working out.

I use the app above to get my Human Design chart, then I screenshot and feed it into Claude/Chat to expand on it and ask questions like "based on my human design, where should I live?"

2. Vedic Meditation

This is a juicy one I could spend a long time on, so instead i'll just point you back to my video You'll see this only once you're ready to let your old self die. I never thought I could be a meditator, now I can't imagine life without it.

3. 100% radical honesty, even when it’s hard.

The subject of dating isn’t really talked about in the entrepreneurial world. I don’t really know why? We’re all on this earth as humans, having experiences with other humans. It’s like the most normal thing ever when you think about it. Though admittedly I hold myself back because I don’t want to say the ‘wrong thing,’ or rub anything in the face of a past lover.

Today I feel like talking about it, so here’s a more personal thought.

I’m clear on my purpose. I have been for a long time. Because of this, i’m willing to pursue it with all my energy, take bold risk, and say no to most other things.

People might refer to this as sacrifice, but it feels more like fulfilment to me. When i’m working in line with my purpose, I am of service. When I am of service, more people live better lives.

Honestly it sounds all noble n shit but it’s genuinely just a calling. A deep, intuitive calling that I am on this earth to guide curious people to build a life of freedom. And I have 24 hours of freedom each day to bring this mission to life. That doesn’t mean working a lot - often it’s thinking, walking, creativity, good conversation, boredom, and self exploration.

It does tend to make dating more complex though. I’m quite happy with my life as it is, and I don’t think i’ll settle down until my 30s (we’ll see, haha)

Spoiler: i’m not celibate, or avoiding dating. Women, relationships, making love and new experiences are all beautiful things.

I’d be missing out on such rich life experience if I avoided these things. The complexity comes in knowing that there’s a human on the other end. A human that deep down, wants to be chosen. They want to be swept up and showered in love. They have their own desires, thoughts, dreams.

Something that’s worked for me during this “solo” period, while still dating, is just being really really honest.

Because when you’re honest and nothing is hidden, there’s free choice. The other person can choose if they want to engage, or not. There’s no expectation, no rush, no miscommunication. If things progress and you’re no longer seeing eye-to-eye, have the courage to call it off. Or if it’s going better than you ever thought it would, lean in.

Just don’t soften your words to avoid the pain of potentially upsetting someone - always speak the truth and the whole truth.

For this season, I lean towards choosing myself over women.

I’m writing this largely because I know there are other men and women out there who will feel understood. It’s okay to choose you, my friend. You’re not broken :)

Learning / Big Idea.

Adam Newman on redefining "Hard work"

Hard work is required. It's inevitable. But it doesn't mean spending more time on career/business.

Time in front of a laptop is working hard on a business

Attending a cacao ceremony is working hard on your inner state

Quality time with your partner is working hard on your relationship

A 2 hour beach walk with a podcast is working hard on your learning

Warren Buffett spent most of his days reading and keeping an open schedule so that when a meaningful opportunity arrived, he was available to take the meeting.

He worked hard, just not in the way most people define hard work.

I write this as a reminder to myself, more than anything.

What's happening next.

I just touched down in Mauritius. First time here and honestly kinda random. My Dad loves kitesurfing and he kept talking about how he’d love to go on a trip someday (hasn’t left Aus in several years).

He was telling me about how Mauritius is one of the best places in the world for kitesurfing so I said bet, let’s go. Bring all your gear I’ll learn to kitesurf too.

After years of trying to get me to learn on the Cocos Islands this must have been music to his ears (laughing face). Really looking forward to the next couple weeks, despite no wind on the forecast (rip)

Just me and the old man, making memories in a foreign place.

Then:
October: Lombok, indonesia
November: West Aus
December: Singapore + Sri Lanka
January: prolly Brazil or somethin

And finally, a thought to ponder.

When was the last time you did something without a reason? Like literally 0 reason or thing to gain from it. Like going for a walk without your phone when it’s raining and miserable. Or getting up for sunrise and not telling anyone. Or making a video that you never publish (on purpose).

Might be something in that.

Anyway, seeya when I have something worth saying.

Big love,

Jai
