The Jai Journal Entry 10 // September 22nd, 2024. My great aunt Jenny made me realise something. I met her for the first time in Feb this year when I travelled through South Africa. She’s in her 80s and full of life. We reminisced over the years, and she was curious about my upbringing and story. She probed about my parents and what they taught me. I told her about how they’re both school teachers. And while we didn’t have much money, we shared a lot of life experiences together with my 6 siblings. Like living on an island. And home-schooling around the USA for 6 months in a motorhome. And bringing our pet lamb to school every day when we lived out in the Australian countryside. As I recounted more stories, I began to realise something. My parents had taught me two lessons that stood out above the rest. These lessons had the power to completely change the trajectory of my life… and yours. When I was 12 I flew across the country to attend a seminar on day trading stocks with my Dad. When I was 13 they told me that I didn’t have to go to University to be wealthy or have a great career. When I was 14 they gave me $100 to “start an online business” (I spent it the next day and made $0). When I was 15 they attended every seminar and personal development event you can think of. Landmark, Tony Robbins, Roy McDonald, etc. They dragged us along to every one they could. When I was 16 they enrolled us in a 12 month Kids Biz program with other families who were teaching their kids to make money online too. I made my first $1000 in this program. When I was 17 i’d arrive home from school to find them cold calling 100s of people to try and grow their Network Marketing side-hustle. When I was 18 they moved to a tiny island off the coast of Australia called the Cocos Keeling Islands. I went with them and completely changed my identity and habits because of it. I don’t share these stories to show you how great my childhood was. I share them to illustrate two things:
For as long as I can remember, my parents had been putting me in environments where I HAD to learn. Planting seeds. I was surrounded by people who were doing things. Which lead to me doing things. The fastest way to create change is to be in an environment that makes it easy to create change. Surround yourself with people who raise your standards, not lower them. I’m building AOM to continue raising my standards in business and in life. You can apply here if you’re craving the same. And if you feel stuck right now, go do something crazy. Fly to another country alone for a month. Start that business you’ve been thinking about for a year. Sell all your shit and become a minimalist for a while. Find a new sport and train every day (or join our Founder Sports Club) Pursue yourself, for once in your life. Maybe it’s my caffeinated thoughts on this lazy Sunday morning, or maybe these words have found you for a reason. I’m channelling my parents right now. Put yourself in an environment where you have no choice but to grow. Then grow, my friend. See you next weekend 🤍 -Jai To read past Journal Entries or send this to a friend, go here.
